That depends on how cold - the heater makes sure that it never gets close
to
having problems with condensation, as well as making sure the pipes don't
freeze during the winter. The heater doesn't come on often, since the
boiler
& hot water tanks are in the same room - but without it we would have
been
in trouble when our boiler died suddenly just before xmas, leaving us
without heating/hot water for a week before we could get a replacement.
