The linksys APs have twin antennas.

I replaced on on mine with an elsa indoor aerial, which gave greater
range horizontally, at a loss of vertical, the "squashed baloon"
as
mentioned here a while back.  Of course, elsa went to the wall ages
back, but I'm sure there are other antennas available.

If you are going to extend the aerial connection over a distance,
you need good quality (read moderately expensive) coax.  You also
need the wierdo plug that linksys use - you can take a TNC femaale
and a TNC male, and cobble together one Linksys plug...
