Re: cctv cameras
Well, we have the same debate running over and over at work with video and
photographic evidence and TBH it is a bit of a joke. Photographic or non
digital evidence is as easy to doctor as digital is, sometimes easier. I
have been on several RIPA courses where this is discussed and it boils down
to one or 2 things. The honesty of the person gathering the evidence and
whether the evidence is original material. If it is domestic cctv footage
and has not been editted ther should be no problem with it. If it is
commercial you need to make sure that it is registered with the data
registrar etc etc. We regularly use digital footage for prosecution of
offences, the courts do not have a problem accepting it (we also use
digital photographs too).

Subject: [ukha_d] cctv cameras
Hi,
I know many of you use cctv cameras with capture cards and various
software that has been discussed here before. If you are unlucky and
something terrible happens, is any video capture admissible as
evidence? I am thinking a traditional video recording would probably
be acceptable, but would a non-HA court think that a computerised
solution was open to abuse, e.g. you could edit the capture and change
the date and time; add or remove people from the shot, etc?
Thanks.
