Proper wireless intercom

I'm looking for something to give us communciation between two
adjacent houses. Range only needs to be about 20m, but may be walls
between. I see Maplin do some that send over the mains, but I'm not
sure we can rely on the two houses being on the same phase. I'd rather
not string a wire between the houses.

It needs to be mains powered so it can be on all the time.

Any ideas?
