Well, my 450MHz G4 Cube "feels" about a third to half the speed
of my
3GHz P4. Anything >1GHz single G4 (maybe >800MHz dual) and you'll be
right at home I reckon. Some of the G4 towers had a reputation for being

a bit on the noisy side, so might be worth digging for info (sorry I've
not had a tower model [yet]).

There are third party G4 upgrade up to about 1.5GHz with on module L3
cache which ought to speed slower models up a bit. Google for
powerlogic, gigadesigns and sonnet...
