Does the Promise Hardware/Drivers allow you to add an extra disk and
incorporate the raid without losing the current Data ?
i.e move from 3 Disk array (500Gb) to 4 disk array (750Gb) and maintain all
data

Hi chris,
I have recently built a 500gig Raid 5 array using the Promise
Supertrack (6Port IDE) card and 250Gig Maxtor Drives (3 off).
I went down the IDE route as Maxtor only offer 3 year warranties on
some of the IDE drives and they were only a couple of quid more
expensie than 1 year warranty non server drives through PC World.
So far working perfectly I have bunged the drives in Icy Docks to
keep them cool and although it's in 19" rack case with several other
fans the noise isn't bad. Quiet CPU fan and Quiet PSU help a bit.
Have the headroom to go to 1.25TB should I ever need it
Cheers
Paul
