Re: dedicated cd players versus jukebox software: which is best?
How about SliMP3 or Squeezebox? Rip to a pc, then pump out over a standard
hifi. Very easy to do multiroom with sync'ed players or playing different
tracks simultaneously. To my ears, MP3 at 224kbps VBR sounds as good as a
CD megachanger transport.
I had a Pioneer PD-F1007 301 disc mega changer for a while, and I was very
pleased with it. I now have three SliMP3's instead. Changed it because,
1.. I ran out of space for discs
2.. I wanted a flexible multiroom solution. Over cat5 with slimp3 or
wireless with squeezebox.
3.. SliMP3's can double up as nice HA devices, I use xAP to display various
notifications and control Homeseer+Comfort through the slimp3 IR receiver.
I found the best way to control the megachanger was through a complete
artist/album listing stored on a pronto. Lot of hard work, even using
something like supernudelist.
Slim/squeeze can be done with an IR remote, web interface, command line,
xAP, xPL

Subject: [ukha_d] dedicated cd players versus jukebox software: which is
best?
Hi,
I was thinking of making images of my cds onto the hard drive and then
using some jukebox software to play them, but I have now seen that
Sony sell a cd player that hold 300 discs! What are the
advantages/disadvantages of each option? Which is best?
Thanks.
