I'm trying to stitch together a complete AV solution. I'm trying to get
something that I can watch TV with (Freeview), record TV, and playback
recordings. Now, the Nebula software does that. Sadly, it doesn't do the
MP3 and video playback thing, which Xlobby does well. So, I'm going to try
and stitch together a VideoLAN server that is controlled via a web
interface. The web interface can be viewed either on one of the TV screens
via Xlobby, or on the Jornada. Xlobby will have a "Live TV"
button which
tunes to the currently multicasted channel. It will also show a list of
files already recorded to playback on demand.

I was planning to use old laptops to display the TV round the house. I got
half a dozen old unservicable PII laptops, but having stuck WinXP on one of
them, there's not enough grunt to play the UKHA 2004 video. I'll have to
try Win98 and see if that's OK, otherwise, I'll be looking at either a
lighter weight software solution, or a few heavyweight laptops. I don't
fancy doing either!

Cheers,
Andy (too many projects, too little time)
