Re: oven temperatures

What you really want is a probe that goes in the meat in the oven and
stays=
there - with an LCD display outside. I can't believe the number of people=
who risk expensive joints and birds gambling on "dead reckoning"
when they=
could have real data.

This Xmas my 16 Lb turkey cooked 45 minutes quicker than the calculated
tim=
e - as it was I knew it was cooking ahead of schedule all along and was
abl=
e to compensate - If I had just used weight and time I would have spent
=A3=
48 on a Turkey that I overcooked. Keep in mind it isn't only the oven
temp=
that is important - the initial internal temp of the joint is also import=
ant. Nobody ever died through having too much data!!!

Subject: [ukha_d] oven temperatures

Hi,

Does anyone know if you can get electronic oven thermometers?

I have done a google but the only digital oven thermometers I can find
are ones that you insert into your joint and it measures the meat
temperature. I would like a way of measuring the oven temperature
without opening the door and letting the heat out.

Thanks.
