I've used VNC to do the same (Only for short periods due to the security
risks) and the problme I come accross most is that the outbound access
is blocked by the people I am using as my gateway.. You could setup VNC
and tell it to use port 80 this way you know it's down to your linksys
router (I am using the same) just start up vnc, setup the port to listen
on as 80 and port fwd the router to your internal IP with the port set
as 80 internal and external this *should* work.. (are you running any
personal firewall on your home pc?)

I have been trying various from PC anywhere to Laplink I've given up
there too..
