RE: OT : Filtered Water Taps
Just one small point to note...
I live in a hard water area, and I have one of these whole house softeners
on the incoming main. It's not fitted under the sink, but in the cellar,
very close to where the water main comes in to the house, and before it
branches off to to various parts of the house.
I also have a drinking water filter fitted at the same location, feeding a
seperate tap at the sink.
But the drinking water is filtered, *not* softened.. _ I was told that in
hard water areas, it is a legal requirement to leave at least one
non-softened drinking water outlet available.
The filter cardridge is about the size of a fire extinguisher, and is said
to last approximately 3 years before replacement is required.
There were under the sink versions of the drinking water part available as
well from the same company, which could be fitted either with or without
the
softener part...
