If you have separate amps you can use what is rather misleadingly called
a source switch. You wire from each speaker to the switch, then from the
switch to each amp and just select the amp you wish to use via the
switch.
Cable should be comensurate with the speakers you are using but QED
Original or Silver at =A32.75/=A35.50 per metre respectively are good
examples. You might, say, use the former on speakers up to =A3250 and the
latter on more expensive units.

Does anybody have experience with in wall speakers?? My plan is to have
a plasma over the fire place with the front L&R and centre speakers
around it and use in ceiling speakers for the other 2/4 channels.
Is there any way I could use the two front speakers for both Home
theatre and general music, if so what do I need to buy or how do I wire
it?? Surely I can't just connect both amps to the same speakers, or can
I??
On what has been said so far I will go probably go with the majority and
go for Sonance for the "background music" ceiling stuff in the
other
rooms, I have found the 622TR's at $179 on the net and am waiting to see
of they would ship internationally.
Also what speaker cable do most people go for on whole house audio
installs?

Has anyone taken a look at KEF's custom install range?? Any thoughts
versus Sonance??
Mik, where did you buy in the US??

Just been down that route myself and after a lot of testing and research
I ended up where everyone else seems to be. Sonance.
For background and "normal" audio, the 622TR seems the best bet -
I now
have 8 of these scattered around the house (cost about 200 quid a pair).
For more serious audio go for the Virtuoso range (big bucks - I had some
shipped in by a friend in the US rather than pay the UK price)
Both are more or less identical with regard to fitting; cut a hole and
they jump in themselves. Both sound excellent - I have 5 Virtuosos
positioned for Theatre surround and (in my set up) they are virtually
indistinguishable sound wise from my original B&W setup although I have
kept the B&W centre and sub-woofers.
Positioning is important - dont stick them in the corner of the room
without listening to them first as this dramatically changes the
acoustics. However, in my lounge, I put them reasonably close to the
walls which seemed to "lower" the speakers so that you are not
aware
that they are in the ceiling.=20
