Mainly demand ... there's not a lot of demand for them generally. NICAM is
a
pretty p*ss poor solution TBH - it arses up the phasing of Dolby Surround
signals which means that NICAM encoded surround material isn't nearly as
"surrounding" as the source.

Also in absolute terms most people wouldn't know if their £1400 32"
digital
widescreen set with built in coffee maker was playing stereo or double mono
anyway!
