That sounds strikingly familiar!!

I run a nvidia Geforce 4 dual screen with a wee 15" TFT - a Relisys
panel that is absolutely razor sharp, and an iiyama vision master pro
510 :)

I also run at 1600x1200 on the CRT, simply for the super refresh rate:
mine was also razor sharp (but flickery as hell - 60Hz!) at 2048x1536.
