If you don't mind, it's quite an old Ipaq but I want to mess about with
turning into a remote for my TV etc

Jonathan it is very easy to replace the battery, it comes as a kit which
includes everything you need.
We fixed one for a customer a few days back, well actually we the technical
department did not one of the sales guys did!
Might be a cheaper option? I can get a url tomorrow if you wish?
