RE: [OT] MCE 2005 VPN and other questions

1.	I can play recorded TV OK [Watched University Challenge on the
laptop]. I'm using XP Pro SP2 on the client PC. I actually browsed over
to
the media PC's Recorded TV folder and clicked on the individual file - if
that helps.

2.	Pop over to the green button (
http://www.thegreenbutton.com/downloads.aspx
) and install DVR-Edit. This
seems to do the editing job - I have yet to manage to create an MPEG file -
but I hope to sort that soon.

3.	Not sure on this - sorry

4.	I guess so - I think you just need to run the guided setup ( or
whatever it is called ) once you have the correct drivers for the DVB card
installed. Also, I guess there is a chance that both the analogue and
digital cards may co-exist - let us know if they do!

Subject: [ukha_d] [OT] MCE 2005 VPN and other questions

Hi All, nothing to do with HA but I got my MCE pc on Xmas eve and have just
had a chance to play with it today. I am having some fun/frustration and
wonder if any one else has had teh same.

The is not a home build but an HP media PC ( Very good quality hardware ;-)
).

1.
I have MS Media player 10 on another PC it can see my recorded TV
programs but when I try and play them all I get is audio. I this a
DRM feature?

2. Can i edit my recorded TV programs to remove adverts etc then
save to DVD? Or does DRM step in again here?

3. It has a WiFi card that I have configured as a software Access
point. THis works but I can't get the VPN to work. I have added all
of the ports I think I need to the Norton Firewall but no luck so
far.

4. The machine has an normal tuner card, can i simply change
this/add a DVB card?

Thanks for any assistance.

Regards
Ian
