What about an infrared beam ? If anyone is under 4 foot high, the beam
isnt broken and the doorbell does nothing :-)

That assumes that you are in a room with a TV and it is turned on.

I have a similar problem. The only unwanted doorbell pushes I get are
little tykes on their way past. I'm thinking of a presence detector and a
delay. If they're still there a second later, the bell can ring.
