RE: Re: PC PSU

Shooting from the hip I would try:

Check the input mains voltage is set to 240v
Make sure your mobo does not expect to get an RPM from the PSU fan(if it
is fan-less I assume this will be zero; one of my mobos shuts down if it
gets a zero value from the CPU fan...long shot but might be worth
looking into)

Well my replacement arrived today - super quick service from Quietpc
as always.

However I still have the problem!

I can't believe there would be two faulty units though.

I'm back on the QTechnology PSU (Ultra-Quiet ATX 460W) now but I
tried every combination of connections with the SilentMaxx and
couldn't get it to boot my PC.

The motherboard is a Jetway 845E and uses the 20 pin ATX power supply
connector, the 4 pin ATX 12v power connector as well as a 6 pin ATX
P9 power connector (the QYechnology PSU doesn't have this - although
I've tried the Silentmaxx with and without this to no avail).

The PC needs power leads for two Hard Drives, a floppy, a CD and DVD
as well as a removable drive cage but even with just the motherboard
connections and only just one Hard Drive, all that happens when I
press the power switch is the PSU fan spins up and the processor fan
(Zalman CNPS6500B) spins but the PC doesn't boot. As soon as I remove
my finger from the power button the fans spin down.

I've also tried the PSU in all three modes (no fan, full fan, etc.)
but it still doesn't work.

Anyone any suggestions?

Malcolm
