>I've just been quoted £4500 to install an alarm system in our new
house (4 bedroom semi).

Seem expensive to me. We have having and alarm fitted next week
which consists of;

3 Keypads
External and internal sounder
14 Window Sensors
4 Door Sensors
3 Smoke/CO alarms
Panic Button
5 Petproof Pirs
2 External circuits for Garage and Lockup (both with a PIR, multi
door/window sensors and keypad)
GSM Redcare
4 Key dongles

I can't remember the name of the panel. This is all fitted by a
NACOS approved installer (required by the Redcare bit). The cost is around
£1800 including (wired) fitting. They were even prepared to let me run the
cables to all of the location (but not fit the sensors) and reduce the
quote
by £300. The monitoring is expensive £45/pm (also due to Redcare).
