1. apple 17" powerbook fully spec'd - I can write music anywhere and
write unix scripts
2. slackware Linux fileserver with 2x 4bay firewire enclosures running on a
spare AMD k6 with 128mb ram - runs a dream
3. XBMC - just gets better and better. I have 3 of them - love the
streaming movie trailer viewer

also up there out of interest

9ft foot projection screen with barco projector
40gb ipod - never leave home without it
acoustic magic mic array for home voice recognition - it just works
3 x fuji 510 fitted into walls as picture slideshows (I painted them white
to match the wall). Guests love them. They change slideshow moods
depending on the day and time. I maybe after a few more of these to put a
cluster of them on a wall and write an app to keep them in sync.
Azureus with rss plugins (tv programs) - I catch up on my US programs -
"Lost"
Konfabulator
podcasting - ipodderx & aggregator

Something for the new year - Want to look into xAP

High level answer to this, as it's all still very new:

CBus
Comfort
SWMBO (for putting up with the install and, now, loving it)

Close runners up:

New Server + Ms SBS
Flat Panel Monitor
Goelst Curtain Tracks
Somfy Blind Motors
