Well, I've changed the wiring to the IR Receiver in the lounge - and
that's pretty much sorted it. That was part of a block of 12 CAT5 going to
the lounge, and alongside whatever else was there in the cavity.

The PSU used is the one supplied by LA for the Xantech block. I think it's
regulated - mebe Phil can shed some light on that.

I would just like to see what the best way of grounding the shielded
cabling is.

I ddn't see the message where you talked about the problem with your
IR distribution so I am not sure if this will be helpful or not. I
gather from what you say below that you have emitters that are
constantly on. What power supplies are you using? I didn't have any
problems with long runs of CAT5 between IR kit (up to about 35m) but I
did have a problem like this with an unregulated power supply. As soon
as I changed to a regulated supply the problem went away.
