[OT] Outlook and Flagged Items

Sorry for the OT but I am tearing my hair out!
My Outlook seems to be acting VERY strangely.
First a little background:
My Outlook connects to our Exchange server. I'm using Outlook 2003 in
cached
mode and use GPRS to VPN into work to send/receive/synch email when out of
the office. My mailbox in Exchange is "large" over 35,000 items
and a size
of around 1.3gig. All of this is also offline in cached mode. I only use a
laptop (Even when in the office.). I do however also keep a second copy of
my Outlook up to date on my home office machine which is permanently VPN'd
to the office.
Here's the problem:
Something/someone (Me?)/somehow large numbers of my emails in my main Inbox
(I have 15+ mail folders with rules) are getting marked as flagged for
follow up.
I left the office yesterday when I cleared down over 1600 items that had
somehow got marked for follow up.
Early this morning I left for an appointment in central London but much to
my annoyance I could not receive mail via GPRS whilst on the train it just
seemed to receive large amounts of data but no mail.
I've come home and realised the problem. Its updating my inbox to reflect
yet more flagged items! My home office PC now has 10,215 items flagged for
follow up but still is showing any new mail as its still going!!!
My laptop is now connected to the office VPN via my ADSL connection and its
slowly updating that copy of Outlook to reflect the flagged items, thus no
email from Exchange.
Argghhhh...
I can however get my group mail as it collects that via a pop3 connection
separately from Exchange.
Heeeeeelp! I'm getting cold turkey not being in contact with my office!
Many thanks,
Rob
