Backups - how do you do them?

It can only be a matter of time before (for example) 60Gb of
carefully processed MP3 files goes bang --- disk drives never last
forever!

The obvious answer is to buy another drive(s), make a copy and store
the whole backup drive(s) somewhere safe.

Better ideas?

Anyone done it?

Tips for easy swapping of drives?  External caddy?

All thoughts welcome,
