RE: [OT] MonitorAdvice
Hey Kevin, - bear in mind when comparing sizes between CRT & LCD
screens
that the manufacturers quoted sizes are misleading for CRT screens,
since they measure the full size of the tube, including the bit behind
the plastic bezel that isn't used for displaying an image...
The upshot is that as a rule of thumb, an LCD screen's viewable image
size is roughly equivalent to the next size up in CRT terms,
i.e. 15" LCD is roughly same image size as 17" CRT,
17" LCD = 19" CRT,
And so on....

Subject: [ukha_d] [OT] MonitorAdvice
Looking to replace my desktop monitors with Flat Panels and I am looking
for some advice.
I do a reasonable amount of photo work on the current CRT (17") and am
looking for a good replacement, I like the Idea of a flat panel but am
not sure of the colour quality would I be better off with a CRT ? it
needs to be 19" as the 17" replaced a faulty 22" and I miss
the size.
Response time should not be too important I don't do a lot of gaming but
do occasionally watch TV through it.
Cheers
Kevin
