Help with Asterisk install

Hi there,

I wonder if anyone on this list can help me with my Asterisk install.

Having read about the product I was sufficiently interested to buy an
FXO card via E-Bay and set a machine up as my VoIP PBX. However, I'm
failing at the first step, or maybe the second...

I have installed Red Hat 9.0 on a PIII PC, my first foray into Linux
apart from hacking the TiVo, and all seems fine. I am now having trouble
downloading Asterisk to the machine. Below is an e-mail I sent a few
days to the Asterisk CVS List but I don't think it has been approved by
the moderator yet...

Help,

This is my first posting, sorry if it is a bit low level...

I have installed Red Hat 9.0 on my 'Asterisk' machine and have
successfully
downloaded the music on hold file using

# cd /usr/src
# wget http://www.mpg123.de/mpg123/mpg123-0.59r.tar.gz

However, I cannot login to the Digium CVS Server. I'm following the
instructions at http://www.automated.it/guidetoasterisk.htm
in
particular the commands

# cd /usr/src
# export CVSROOT=:pserver:anoncvs@xxxxxxx:/usr/cvsroot
# cvs login - the password is anoncvs.
# cvs checkout zaptel libpri asterisk

My problem is that I enter the 'anoncvs' (No speech marks or full stop)
after I receive 'CVS password' and then nothing... I notice that the
password is not echoed with ******* either, is this normal?

Eventually I receive

'cvs [login aborted]: connect to cvs.digium.com(66.250.69.240):2401
failed:
Connection timed out'

Thanks in advance

Nigel
