If it's for home use, then how about AVG (free edition) and the free Zone
Alarm. I've not had anyone (who's actually bothered to install the updates)
hit with a virus (I've had several who have not bothered to update AVG and
got hit though)
AVG tends to be good if installed on a clean PC and kept updated. I've
found
it's not so good at cleaning an infected PC though.
