The Linksys WRV54g has a firmware update to act as a boingo hotspot - could
this be moded to just act as a free hotspot? The projects at
http://www.wififreenet.com and http://www.publicip.net look
interesting too.

Subject: [ukha_d] [OT] Public open access WLAN

Hi chaps,

A local cafe I frequent has asked for advice on installing WLAN access that
is completely free for their customers/passers by. Their broadband supplier
is OK with this, so I'm after a cheap-and-cheerful turnkey access point
which ideally also has a built in firewall to prevent spammers etc abusing
the service. I also guess some kind of clever routing is required to
prevent
two PCs connected to the AP from being able to see each other? Suddenly
what
seemed like a simple idea is starting to look expensive / complex... Any
suggestions?

Patrick
