Hi

Email to SMS and back is fine if you have a broadband connection and you
have your email client connecting frequently. With the modem/phone on
the PC, you get the message in seconds (assuming no delays in the network)

With my own setup, I can send a txt message and get a reply in about
10-15 seconds allowing for any delays in the sending etc.

It all depends on what you want to do with it? I only need simple
control of X10 devices and my heating etc.
