For free, yes they do have a limit.
But I never got anywhere near it, single handedly, reading about 20-
30 groups into a news server... maybe if you are running an
organisation off it, yes, or have a binaries need...
Perhaps the next best option is a ADSL providor with a good news
service, which once upoin a time meant demon.
And/or, have your own news server so you get the extended retention
times. I used to use dnews, and then using stuff they provided,
gatewayed this very mailing list into news, so I could read it as
news with all the other news.
dnews is one of those products (like Communigate Pro) which is
multiplatform, installs simply, and works right out of the box, but
costs money.
