Thanks for the tip.

But I've been using NetSwitcher ( http://www.netswitcher.com ) for
the same thing for about 2 years now.

You're right in that a lot of this stuff could be done on the
command line but I use NetSwitcher on my laptops for when I change
locations.

I now feel reasonably stupid for not remembering that I could
obviously use NetSwitcher on my desktop PC to change networks... duh!
