Actually both.

I would hope that one would be able to install one set of relatively
sensitive motion detectors pointing to the halls and the staircases
so the kids don't fall down the stairs at night.  My kids have lived
in an apartment all their life (13 and 8 years) and have never had
to deal with a staircase before.

And install a second set of motion detectors pointing towards the
outside of the home, and less sensitive, to detect intrusion on to
the property.

A question as regards both types of detectors:  do pets set them
off?  We're hoping to have a couple of cats and I'd hate to wake up
the entire neighbourhood just because the cats were playing on the
terrasse or something...
