Actually here in France it's a bit blurry. It means you have to
have a specific type of alarm, kind of a specific grade with minimum
functionality and you have to prove that it's installed (certificate

purchase). They do not have to be installed by a qualified company.
The minimum type of insurance we are looking at does not require a
monitored alarm system as the monthly monitoring fee would probably
cover our mortgage within about 3 years!

That sounds great. If I could somehow leave the alarm alone and
working properly while using the same centralised panel for HA I
would defintely be a happy camper.
