That is an alternative paradigm, and I've seen it work really well
in a couple of commercial organisations, and nowadays, in just about
every supermarket.  But I know that asking my wife and kids to carry
a phone about (*) would go down like a sack of bricks.

(*) Unless we are talking kids and the the phone is the latest
expensive nokia fashion accessory...
