Hi Frank,

Good to see you are getting into the networking side of things.

First you need to ensure that your cables are OK and not crossover
cables if using a hub.

You should have an RJ45 cable from each PC to a hub port (avoid the
uplink port if one is marked as such).  When you plug in each cable an
LED on the hub associated with that port should light - usually a green
LED.  Make sure that happens for both PC cables.

We then move from there.
