Re: PC multi zone audio without multiple sound cards

nice one Paul,

now if we could just get a multiple video card solution working reliably as
well then we would have a PC based matrix solution..
regards

Subject: [ukha_d] PC multi zone audio without multiple sound cards

Just finished testing the kX Project audio drivers on my W2K Server. I
already have whole house audio via a 6 source, 6 zone amp but wanted
another
input/output for a different project I’m working on. Unfortunately I
didn’t
have any spare PCI slots in the server so went looking for an alternative
way of doing it…

With a supported sound card (recent-ish 5.1 SoundBlaster), installing these
drivers allows you to access the multi channel capabilities of your sound
card INDIVIDUALLY – i.e. front left/right channels; rear left /
right and
centre / sub appear as a separate devices in Windows. I’ve tested 3
sets of
channels with winamp driving each set with DIFFERENT songs simultaneously.
:-)

May be an alternative to adding multiple sound cards in a PC and a card
like
the Audigy 2 is pretty cheap these days :-) Just thought I’d share.
