Bathroom extract fans - how about using an in-line type ( as I have ) - you
can then mount it away from the room in the loft and insulate it sonically
by using rubber washers between the fan and joists. Of course, this is
providing the room is upstairs.

You can get very quiet fans but will probably need to get them from a
specialist supplier or order from electrical merchant - Vent Axia is worth
a go.

Paul.

Tony,

CPC do this:
http://custom1.farnell.com/cpc/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=cpc+catalogue
<http://custom1.farnell.com/cpc/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=cpc+catalogue&product%5Fid=273007>
&product%5Fid=273007

A power supply specifically for the mini ITX boards. There's no picture on
the website, but there is one in the 2004 catalogue and I don't remember
seeing a fan.

Failing that, could you swap out the fan from your current PSU for a
low-noise one (Papst ?, IIRC)

All the bathroom-type extractor fans I've heard are far too noisy if you
want to work in the same room. I did consider mounting a couple of quiet PC
fans and some ducting but that project is in much the same state as many of
my others, so nothing to report yet :-(

HTH,

Tim H.

P.S. which 1U case did you get ?
