Eclipse told me that if I was on Wires Only (self installed ADSL) then
they would just do the swap and charge =A335+VAT for transfer. But because
it's BT engineer installed one, I need to convert it back to analogue
and then they would charge full installation of =A350+VAT. That means that
not only it's more expensive, but I'm likely to have longer service
disruption and probably change phone number.
Cheers,
Nik

I don't think they generally send an engineer out if they revert to=20
the analogue line - they certainly didn't for me, but they do have to=20
actually action the disconnection at the exchange. Someone just=20
turned up a few later to collect the modem.

Charging for "reconnection"/provisioning is entirely down to the
new=20
providers policy on these matters and is infuenced by whatever=20
wholesale or local loop agreements they have in place AIUI.
