Norton Antivirus has usually good description of each virus, files
infected, symptoms etc. but you need to know the name of the virus you
are suspecting.
Then you can print this description from other PC and check manually for
the symptoms of infection (files deleted, new registry settings entered)
etc.
Cheers,
Nik

Hmm, thanks both. I suppose that I am so careful about never doing
anything that could infect one of my machines, that I never really
think of the effects of viruses. Is there a way of at least checking
to see they have an infection without connecting to the internet? For
example is there a specific file they could search for?
