Graham,
I bought one of the Silent Gliss 'Autoglide' rails from Li at Laser
(www.laser.com). Not cheap but quite good - the cheaper variant allows you
to connect it to something like HomeVision and send discreet open/close
signals to it via a wire (and also retain the manual opener button). I've
got mine linked to HV (and Comfort) so that when I arm the alarm to away
mode, the curtain closes (and opens when disarmed). Also have a bunch of
schedules and macros for opening/closing at dusk/dawn. Very cool (if you
can class curtains opening as cool?).
I did have some initial problems with build quality which took several
returns and phone calls to Silent Gliss to resolve but they were good and
got it sorted in the end.
Paul.

Guys
I'm in the process of running miles of cable in my house and have a few
questions on Electric Curtain tracks:
1. Are they all mains voltage
2. Where are the motors normally positioned, top or bottom of window
3. What techniques have been used to integrate to say HomeVision, ie.
IR, hard wired etc.
Cheers
