Loss leader? They have the opportunity to establish ownership of a
pseudo number-range for VoIP. If it does end up being adopted by the
masses, the relatively modest costs of running an online business pay
off big time - micropayments for directory listing, directory access,
premium number allocation, service provision, demographics - the
whole shooting match? That's my (completely speculative) take on it.
I can see one big problem for VoIP: the fact that it has a low fixed
cost associated with it means telesales calls could reach a new all
time high, infinitely worse (and more intrusive) than spam - and very
little you can do about it...
