I complained about the midband release, more out of frustration than
anything else...

It's both interesting and horrifying to see the absolute cr*p BT are
spouting about this "new" service. For what it's worth, I have
complained to
oftel (I expect *nothing* from this other than a formal registration of
protest) about the bundling of services going on..

Now for a letter to Ben. :

Dear Mr Lowe

Thank you for your email regarding BT Midband.

I am sorry that BT Midband is not all that you expected it to be. Midband
has
been introduced as a stepping stone between Home Highway and Broadband and
offers direct access to the internet without the need to have an ISP. BT
Midband connects to the Internet using ISDN technology. Its intelligent
software automatically detects what you're doing online and switches
between
64
kilobits per second and 128k so you are always surfing at the optimum
speed.

When you're surfing at 128k and you want to make a call you can just pick
up
the
phone and your surfing speed will drop to 64k. This is known as call
bumping.

The BT Midband package includes line rental, plus 150 hours per month at
64k
or
75 hours at 128k. Once your hours have been used up subsequent access will
be
available via a Pay As You Go (PAYG) dialler using a 0845 number.

BT Midband will enable a simple crossover to Broadband when the service
becomes
available in your area.

BT have no plans to introduce a replacement to Midband.

Again, I am sorry that Broadband has fallen short of your expectations.
However, if you would like to look into it further you can visit the BT
website
at www.bt.com/btmidband or ring the service desk on 0800 587 6546.

I hope this information has been useful to you.

Yours sincerely,
