I just screwed mine straight into the plasterboard and they are fine.  The
key is to cut the holes the right size.  The template size they give is
much bigger than what is needed you can get away with about a 54mm radius
IIRC (I tried it out on a spare piece of board until I got it just right).
This will give enough room for the screws as longer as you drill through
the plaster with a small pilot drill first to stop it splitting.
