Thanks. That'll probably be the best long term solution. I'm just trying to
get something working for now. Before I go down the TV-plug/socket route
I'm going to try tinning the centre conductor to see if it will go into an
F-socket. The connection won't be subject to frequent use so this may just
tide me over.

I have made up leads with f connectors on both ends and then used BNC / F
con adaptors............
