RE: VFD Questions



I looked at the noritake-elec web site but the words 'burn-in' made me
think VFD isn't the way I'd want to go. Is this a real problem? I could
see me using it for security state etc, which doesn't change much and
stays on-screen for long periods.

Hi Pedro,

Yep, that is what the nice man at Noritake in the UK told me. It even
supports the same 4 or 8 bit interface of the Hitachi 44780 driver on
LCD's

I am going to use the one I mentioned to replace the non-backlit LCD on
my boiler monitor.

What is the advantage of a VFD being compatible with LCD? Does it mean
that
I can use a program which was designed for use with LCDs and use a VFD
instead and the program won't know the difference?
