hi ken
I can say without doubt that the hs10 is louder than the ae100 , but what
you may have been experiencing is the hs10 fans running more slowly if you
have good cooling in the room (the hs10 fans are very temp sensitive)
therefore reducing the noise.
agreed that the hs10 pic is streets ahead of the ae100, but then it is over
twice the price!
my only point was that the hs10 while very good (and perfect for your
environment) does have some limitations, making it a compromise for other
environments (as all of these things are!)

the tv replacement is more practical than you think, my pj is pretty much
instant on (picture in less than 15 secs), and we use it in the evenings,
but have it set up for quite a small picture for max brightness (1.5m
widescreen). We also have a kiss widescreen 15" tft for normal daytime
casual viewing. usability isnt an issue as it is all Node0/sky+/kat5/pronto
so 1 button press and your up and running with output fed to both sources.
cheers!
