mmm... a possibility.
I have the following connected to the UPS:
W2K Server - Exchange 2000, IIS - UPS serial port connected to this
currently
W2K Server - ISA Server, Satellite BB connection
Mandrake Linux Server - Apache, zoneminder etc
For a software shutdown solution, I will obviously also need to connect my
switch to the UPS as well and software that works on Windows and Linux
boxes???
Paul.

Whilst I haven't got round to doing it (as my sparc box that is hooked
up to the UPS serial port isn't fully set up yet) yet, I gather that
under Linux, apcupsd can send signals to daemons running on other
machines, but I dont know if it uses the same protocol as the UPS'
notwork interface card, so I'm not sure whether it would work with
PowerChute.
One possibility (I'm not versed fully in electronics so dont quote me on
this) would be if you're using the simple signalling cable to connect
more endpoints to it as it's relay operated iirc.
Just a few thoughts... I'll probably have samething more sane to tell
you later... when I've woken up properly, that is.
