I have attempted a similar thing but with a Linet based system rather
than Comfort. I was also close to forming similar opinions on MH.
However now I am over the learning curve of MH (and it is rather steep
but getting shorter with some peoples documentation efforts) I really do
appreciate the framework it provides. Essentially once you get
something integrated the rest of the framework provides a lot of added
benefit in terms of event processing and control. However "out of the
box" that is not really very evident. I personally found it worth
perserving and am glad I didn't start writing my own (unless you have
commercial interests at heart).

The nice thing about open source is you benefit from everyones efforts -
this is one of the things the founder of MH (Bruce Winter) has stated
has been a real benefit of making it open source, even though it wasn't
the original driver.
As always just another opinion, but wanted to balance it up a bit if I
could - obviously there is always different strokes for different folks.
Cheers
