Re: Local IR Distribution

Hi Alex

I think you can buy ir extender kits pretty cheap...All you need is an ir
receiver which would gate a 38khz...40 khz oscillator and have a driver
transistor on the output or have a look below for some pic related ir
stuff.....Also i think you may have probs with the pace box i recall
someone having trouble ????

Subject: [ukha_d] Local IR Distribution

I'm looking at building a cabinet to hold my nice AV & PC kit in the
lounge.
SWMBO doesn't understand the beauty of these things and would ideally like
them completely hidden behind closed doors.

The problem obviously is that the IR remote controls won't work through the
doors, my thoughts were that I'd be able to build a simple device with an
IR
in and x * IR out.

Would it work if I had a very simple amp (741 or couple of transistors
etc...) with the IR Sensor on the input and IR Senders on the output or
would I need to have something like a PIC in place to decode the inputs and
relay decoded IR streams to the appropriate IR sender for each device ?

I have a Pace 4000 NTL digital cable box and the all in 1 remote doesn't
like the DVD player (I don't know if this is relevant)
