IR receivers in PIR's?

Are PIR's a good place for infrared receivers in order to control
remote kit?  If I ran a single 8-core cable to each PIR then there
would be enough wires for both the PIR and IR receiver.

Or would I be better with a seperate wallplate or mouse?

I was looking at the Xantech microlink receiver.  Is there any
particular PIR make/model that this will definitely fit into?

Or should I just get something like the Digi-eye, and wait for Keiths
Kat5 IR upgrade ... ?
