DVD backup software

Was wondering around PC World earlier today (the one at umpteen-to-
umpty-dumty two Purley Way Croydon, next to the Dime Bar warehouse).
Anyway, saw a few bits of DVD backup software. What I couldn't work
out from the packaging is can it copy my DVDs as they are, keeping
the DD 5.1 soundtrack and extras, to hard disk - and then can I play
them with something like PowerDVD across my network?
